The table below lists some Fellowships that are available to students interested in Engineering and Public Policy. All students are encouraged to seek financial support from these and other fellowships not currently listed.

This highly selective, rigorous leadership program recruits outstanding graduate students for a two-year developmental fellowship at various Federal agencies.

EPA Fellowships for Graduate Environmental Study (STAR Fellowhsips)

US citizens or permanent residents

For graduate study in areas relating to environmental research.

Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for new Americans

Nov 1

Naturalized (New) US citizens, nationals or permanent resident aliens; 1st or 2nd year graduate students only

Fellowships that provide opportunities for continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen fields.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

Provide opportunities for advanced education that prepares students for a broad range of disciplinary and cross-disciplinary careers through its strategic investments in intellectual capital

E.J. Sierleja Memorial Fellowship

Nov 15

Active member of IIE

Available annually to a graduate student pursuing advanced studies in the area of transportation, with priority given to students focusing on rail transportation.

Department of Energy Office of Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE SCGF)

U.S. citizens only

The DOE Office of Science supports the training of scientists and engineers to prepare them for careers in fields that will make significant contribution in the areas of discovery-driven science and science for national needs in energy, environment, and national security.

The US National Science Foundation East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes (EAPSI)

U.S. citizen or permanent residents

Provides summer research experience in Australia, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore or Taiwan; introduction to the local science and science policy infrastructure.

National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellowship

US citizens or nationals

Fellowships are awarded to individuals who have demonstrated ability and special aptitude for advanced training in science and enineering

Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program (DDETFP)

Feb 13

US, permanent resident, or foreign national

Fellowships to students pursuing degrees in transportation-related disciplines. This program advances the transportation workforce by attracting the brightest minds to the field through education, research, and workforce development. The DDETFP encompasses all modes of transportation.

ASME Federal Agency Fellowships

Mar 31

US citizens or nationals and members of ASME

Fellows participate directly in the process and learn how the federal government operates. In addition, agencies are provided with essential engineering expertise and, at the end of the fellowship year, a fellow's employer has an engineer with in-depth knowledge of congressional/governmental decision-making processes.
